Shahrukh faces Farah’s challenge

Shahrukh Khan might consider My Name Is Khan as the biggest movie of his career but a bigger challenge lies ahead for King Khan. Shahrukh has to shoot for Farah Khan’s
Happy New Year. The script requires Shahrukh to again work on his body first time since the blockbuster Om Shanti Om. Believe it or not Shahrukh is all set to sport eight pack abs in the movie.

It may be recalled that Shahrukh had to undergo a surgery after injuring his shoulder while shooting for Vivek Vaswani’s Dulha Mil Gaya. The actor who is under the treatment of renowned physiotherapist under the treatment of Dr. Ali Irani has been medically advised to take it easy. His shoulder is still very weak and in no condition to take up weight training.

A determined Shahrukh shot most of My Name Is Khan in pain but he is no condition to work out on his muscles right now. Happy New Year was to hit the floors by the end of the year but with delay in My Name Is Khan and Shahrukh’s sci-fi thriller Ra 1 the movies is likely to be pushed to 2010. Happy New Year will star Deepika Padukone opposite Shahrukh.

Shah Rukh Khan Hosts Dinner For Ali Rustam In Mumbai

Bollywood heartthrob Shah Rukh Khan hosted Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam to a special dinner at his residence in posh Banjara Hills in Mumbai on Monday.

“I attended a dinner at his house. He served the best Indian cuisine including briyani and thosai.

“I must say Malaysian (food) tastes 20 per cent less good than original Indian food. He also agreed to do one or two shoots for his new movie Happy New Year in Melaka later this year,” Mohd Ali told Bernama during a brief visit to Hyderabad.

He said they also discussed establishing a film studio in Melaka to develop talents for the Malaysian movie industry.

“He (Khan) has a lot of experience in acting and movie production. He has given us his blessings, I hope he can give lectures and share his knowledge with us,” added Mohd Rustam.

Two of Khan’s movies, “One Two Ka Four” and “Don” were shot in the historical Melaka state.

Last November, the Melaka state government awarded him the title “Datuk” for promoting Melaka through his movies.

Khan’s movie Happy New Year is directed by the actor himself and his wife Gauri Khan.

Shahrukh khan  is a sucker for knowledge. He has a great collection of books at home and has lately turned to the books that are online. Believe it or not, the superstar is learnt to have downloaded about 300 books online. This enables him to keep reading new stuff even when he’s traveling. And he urges his fans to take up the habit of reading. “Whatever it takes, read a lot in whichever medium you feel comfortable. Personally, reading is the nicest thing which can happen to me,” Shahrukh is quoted by a news agency. Interestingly, while SRK is seen as a man who gets along well even with his worst detractors, the actor confesses he doesn’t have much social etiquettes. “I don’t have social etiquettes. I am socially not very capable. I really can’t do that ‘Hi how are you.. I am shopping here…here is a pic of my dog…‘,” SRK said, showing his characteristic humour again. Among the other Khans in the industry, Amir khan and saif ali khan are also very fond of reading books. Till recently Saif was reading a graphic book on Buddha, while Aamir loves to read history.

With the burst of reality shows, Shah Rukh has also leaped into the trend – but with a difference! He has decided to go 24X7 public through a first of its kind show!
A leading lifestyle channel Discovery Travel & Living is to do a show King Khan.

It will be produced jointly by SRK`s own Red Chillie Idiot Box along with Blu Mango films. Addressing a press meet about the show, Shah Rukh said that he was very excited about the concept. Rahul Johri, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the TV Channel said that they were thrilled to work with a star like SRK.
With this kind of exposure, it would be hard to imagine of a personal life for the megastar and his family. His wife Gauri Khan was unavailable for comment on this show, which is bound to equally infringing her privacy as well.

Though Shah Rukh has been known for his uncanny business skills, this particular step seems a bit overboard – almost like selling a part of his life to media!

I’m shocked at being sacked as KKR coach: Buchanan

John Buchanan on Wednesday said he was “shocked and disappointed” at being sacked as the Kolkata Knight Riders’ coach by franchise

owner Shahrukh khan because the actual deal was to build the team over five years.

Buchanan could not help the team’s cause in the first two years of the Indian Premier League and the KKR finished bottom-placed in the second season while courting maximum number of controversies, including the Australian’s multiple-captaincy theory.

“We were trying to build something over five years but Shah Rukh Khan, the owner and King of Bollywood, had a change of direction and I was told I was no longer needed. That was a a shock and a disappointment,” he said.

Buchanan felt Sourav Ganguly, who captained the team in the inaugural season, was not up to the pace demanded by the game which resulted in their losing the close matches.

“(Sourav) Ganguly was the icon player and the captain of the outfit and I told him I didn’t believe he was up to the pace of the game. We got to the last over in nine games and lost them, getting to the last ball five times and losing,” he was quoted as saying by the ‘Courier Mail’.

The former Australian coach, who is recuperating after a minor eye surgery, also created controversy when he accepted the job of a consultant to England’s cricket team just ahead of Ashes.

“I’d never coach another state or international side. There are certain loyalties involved but to help another coach? I’m quite happy to do that,” Buchanan clarified.

Asked about his barbed relationship with Shane Warne, Buchanan said the legendary bowler’s only agenda was to be in news.

“I think so. The thing about Warnie is that his agendas are pretty open. He just likes to be the centre of attention and be centre stage. He has a good way of managing that and finding his way there.”

In a candid admission, Buchanan, also said his ability and ambition to play for Australia did not match up.

“I was going to wear the baggy green cap like 60 to 70 per cent of young boys growing up but in the end, ambition and ability didn’t quite match up so I retired from playing in the mid-’80s. By that time, it was well and truly in my mind that it wasn’t as a player that I was going to make it in cricket,” he said.

Buchanan also said his extraordinary success as an Australian coach just happened.

“I was there about eight years and finished up by winning the World Cup in 2007. I never actually planned it all,” he said.

Shah Rukh Khan goes for eight pack abs in RA.1!!

Shah Rukh Khan, the bollywood badshah who still needs at least two months rest to fully recover his fitness after the operation on his injured shoulder, has decided to push the envelope and go for an year- long strenuous exercise regime to get an eight- pack-abs needed for his forthcoming flicks ‘RA.1’ and Farah Khan’s ‘ Happy New Year’.

Sources say that Farah Khan’s ‘Happy New Year’ is scheduled to go on the floors at the end of this year, and it too needs a muscled look from King Khan. Considering the tight schedule, Shah Rukh has hardly any time on hand to wait for the full recovery, if he wants to achieve his eight- pack- abs for the above projects.

In fact, Shah Rukh Khan has already started working out to get that dream body for his films (which is more than his six –pack- abs in earlier ‘Om Shanti Om’), but this is not in consonance with medical advice.

Sources say that that Shah Rukh Khan had been advised by the doctors to wait for his full recovery before going for strenuous exercise regime to get an eight –pack- abs. They also wanted him to pass fitness tests with Thera-Bands before going for any muscle building exercise for the role.

Insiders reveal that initially Shah Rukh Khan had only half tear in his left shoulder, and that was not much of a problem. At that time, he could have gone for his strenuous exercises to build his muscles. But, it became serious after he injured his shoulder again (this time it was full tear) during the shooting of ‘Dulha Mil Gaya’ and had to be operated upon. The operation has resulted in weakening of the shoulder and needs time to fully recover.

Another worry for the doctors is that Shah Rukh wants to build his muscles for ‘Ra.1’, which will essentially involve heavy- weight lifting, and that will have direct adverse consequences for his shoulder. In fact, weight lifting puts direct pressure on shoulders, and that’s why doctors always advise to avoid this type of exercise.

The buzz doing the rounds in the industry is that Shah Rukh would need at least two- three hours of strenuous exercise every day to be able to achieve an eight –pack- physique, and it is far more than he needed to do for ‘Om Shanti Om’.

Earlier, King Khan had postponed Anubhav Sinha’s ‘Ra.1’, which is a sci-fi action thriller and needs him to perform some of the breath- taking action sequences for it. Instead of Anubhav’s flick, Shah Rukh shot for Karan Johar’s ‘My Name Is Khan’, which did not need action from him, but it is almost complete now and SRK is still to fully recover from his injury.

Even now, Shah Rukh will start with Farah Khan’s ‘Happy New Year’ in December and then will go for Anubhav’s ‘Ra.1’ sometime next year. But even Farah’s flick needs him to have an eight pack abs, and it is here that the problem started
